Omar Aboshady, MD, MSc, has been selected to present in an Oral Poster Session titled, Changes In QTC Across Different Trimesters of Pregnancy and Pre-Eclampsia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Surya Bhamidipaty-Pelosi, MD, MS, DRANZCOG’s abstract, Characterization of Labetalol in Pregnancy (the CLIP Study) has been accepted as a Trials in Progress abstract.
Aislinn O’Kane, PharmD’s abstract, Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic Model to Assess the Impact of Genetic Variability in Patients Receiving Dexmedetomidine has been accepted for presentation at the ASCPT 2024 Annual Meeting.
Gerald So, PharmD’s abstract, Inhibition of Tacrolimus Metabolism by Cannabidiol and Its Metabolites In Vitro, has been accepted for presentation and will be receiving a Presidential Trainee Award at the ASCPT 2024 Annual Meeting. In recognition of this high-quality abstract, Gerald has also been chosen as a recipient of a Top Poster Ribbon.

Min Yue, BS’s abstract, Oral Progesterone-Mediated Attenuation of Ibutilide-Induced QT Interval Lengthening in Premenopausal and Postmenopausal Women: Population Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic Model has been accepted for presentation and will be receiving a Presidential Trainee Award at the ASCPT 2024 Annual Meeting. In recognition of this high-quality abstract, Min has also been chosen as a recipient of a Top Poster Ribbon.
Syed Zaidi, PharmD, PhD has been selected to present, DEVELOPMENT AND VERIFICATION OF A NIFEDIPINE CONTROLLED RELEASE PHYSIOLOGICALLY-BASED PHARMACOKINETIC MODEL IN PREGNANCY, and will be receiving a Presidential Trainee Award. In recognition of this high-quality abstract, Syed has also been chosen as a recipient of a Top Poster Ribbon.
Meena S. Madhur, MD, PhD, has been named the new Director the Division of Clinical Pharmacology in the Department of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. She will begin this role August 15, 2023.

The second largest federally funded research program at Indiana University School of Medicine will receive $48.8 million over the next five years, fueling the work of researchers as they seek to discover treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
On Monday, September 26, IU School of Medicine announced the 2022 recipients of the Showalter Scholar award.
Dr. Todd Skaar will serve as Interim Chief for the division while a nationwide search is conducted for a new Chief of Clinical Pharmacology. Dr. Skaar brings a wealth of knowledge in science and a history with the Department which will provide strength and stability as we work through this period of transition. Our deep gratitude goes out to Dr. Skaar for agreeing to the new responsibilities in addition to his existing scientific teaching and leadership responsibilities.In 2020, a partnership between Indiana University School of Medicine and Eli Lilly and Company was created to collaborate in specific areas of scientific development. Leaders of this effort say the progress so far from the five year, $5 million collaboration is a good sign for potential expansion in the future.

Thank you for joining the 11th Annual Indiana CTSI Disease and Therapeutic Response Modeling and Simulation Symposium. This year we welcomed over 220 attendees via zoom over three days in February. Attendees joined from all over the world including Brazil, Germany, India, and more!

We would like to recognize Nadia Bamfo and Chimnonso Onuoha, both T32 Postdoctoral Fellows, for their abstracts being accepted for presentation at the 2022 Online Annual ASCPT Meeting in March of next year. Both Nadia and Chimnonso were chosen as the recipient of a Top Poster Blue Ribbon based on the high quality of their abstracts. Way to go, Nadia and Chimnonso!
Congratulations to Nick Powell, PharmD on his recent PGRN Poster Award. His abstract titled, “Life-Threatening Docetaxel-Induced Pneumonitis in a Patient with Loss-of-Function Variants in the Pharmacokinetic Genes CYP3A4 and CYP3A5” has been selected by the PGRN Scientific Program Committee to receive a PGRN Top Trainee Abstract Award at the PGRN Fall 2021 Annual Meeting. All submitted abstracts from trainees were subject to a blinded review by multiple experts in the field of pharmacogenomics, with scoring based on clarity, significance, impact and relevance to pharmacogenomics.
Dr. Sara Quinney announced as the new Director of the Disease and Therapeutic Modeling Program beginning Fall 2021.
The modeling program in the division of clinical pharmacology is an additional critical resource for our drug discovery work along with the Cancer Center’s bioanalytical core (CPAC), and our fellowship training program.
This group also provides an important service in filling a gap in the pharmaceutical industry workforce and builds on the unique foundation of technical skills of our faculty at the Indiana University Division of Clinical Pharmacology.
